What are the residency requirements for the School of Nursing?

Does the School of Nursing have TOEFL and transcript requirements for applicants who have earned coursework/degrees from institutions outside of the United States?
Yes. For applicants who earned coursework/degrees from institutions outside the United States:
Completion of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for graduates of foreign schools whose academic language was not English. The minimum required score is:
TOEFL-Internet-Based Test (IBT): 79 or higher
TOEFL-Paper-Based Test (PBT): 550 or higher
Other documents required by UMMC and local, state, and federal authorities;
Transcripts must be evaluated in a course-by-course report from World Education Services (WES) or the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).
What is the average starting salary of a newly licensed RN?

Is there an entrance exam required for your undergraduate programs?
No entrance exam is required for admission into the UMMC School of Nursing.
How many students are accepted?
The number of students accepted differs from application cycle to application cycle, depending on the number of qualified applicants, the number of available faculty, the number of available clinical sites and preceptors, etc.
What are the ACT requirements?
There is no minimum ACT superscore requirement for our pre-licensure nursing programs. If the ACT/SAT has not been taken, students may still apply. However, applicants who have completed the ACT/SAT are asked to submit their score(s) for documentation purposes. Applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in another field or are licensed RNs do not need to submit an ACT/SAT score. This score is not utilized in the admission process.
- Freshman Early-Entry applicants must have a minimum ACT superscore of 25.
- Residual ACT scores are accepted.
- For more information about this, please contact the Office of Enrollment Management. Scores on transcripts are considered unofficial and will not be accepted.
Does UMMC School of Nursing offer scholarships/ financial aid?
Yes, both are available to qualified students who apply.
